The NIST Cybersecurity Framework provides critical infrastructure enterprises a compass for greater accountability and success with their cyber risk management.  How will this framework apply to procurement requirements of the federal government?  Section 8(e) of the cyber executive order 13636, states that GSA and DOD will recommend cyber security standards in acquisition and contracting practices, including harmonization thereof.  So how will government contractors and vendors be required to demonstrate their adoption of the cyber framework, as well as that of their supply chains, as a condition for their doing business with the government?  What will be the threshold requirements? 

Further, in January of this year, the DoD and GSA Joint Working Group on Improving Cybersecurity and Resilience Through Acquisition submitted its final report on integrating cybersecurity requirements into all federal procurements. This report, which satisfies Executive Order (EO) 13636 and Presidential Policy Directive (PPD) 21, includes recommendations on the increased use of cybersecurity standards in all federal acquisition activities, including strategic planning, capabilities needs assessment, systems acquisitions, and program and budget development.

From Washington D.C. – Take Route 50 West (Arlington Boulevard) to Fairview Park South. (the exit is located before the entrance to the Beltway).

From Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) – take exit #50, Route 50 East and proceed east to Fairview Park South.  

Upon entering Fairview Park, turn left at the pond onto Fairview Park Drive. Take the first left into 3170 Fairview Park Drive and follow the signs to the Executive Briefing Center.
