David McCue

Vice President and Chief Information Officer, CSC


Biography:

 

David J. McCue is vice president and chief information officer (CIO) for Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). He is responsible for the overall direction, strategic vision and business management of CSC’s global information technology environment. Additionally, Mr. McCue manages the company’s global security posture reporting to the Chairman.

His career has spanned line and staff roles including business development, revenue production and service delivery in State and Local Government (Judicial, Labor, Tax, Utility), Healthcare (Payer/Provider), Federal Government, Administrative Services and some Warehouse/Distribution/Manufacturing. In addition to technology and cyber security, focal areas include strategic, business and process management consulting.

Mr. McCue has been with CSC since 1996 when he joined the company as part of the acquisition of American Practice Management, where he served as CIO since 1993. His assignments at CSC have included vice president of applications portfolio management, divisional chief information and resource officer for CSC’s Healthcare Group and chairman of the Enterprise Architectural Review Board. Earlier career endeavors include various revenue production, operations and management roles at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). He started his career with Human Systems, Inc.

Mr. McCue holds an MBA degree in finance from New York University’s Stern Graduate School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce summa cum laude from Rider University. He is a certified management consultant and holds the APICS CPIM designation as well as a US security clearance.

He is listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, was chosen as one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders and has been featured in PC Week and on the cover of CIO Magazine. Mr. McCue holds a FAA Commercial Pilot’s License and his charity interests involve law enforcement and general aviation.


Abstract:

Real World Issues in Managing Cyber in a Global Enterprise

Session will focus on practical, real world operational experiences encountered in a global enterprise that manages hundreds of other companies’ environments.  Using experiences gained in the transfer of:

  • Cyber insights obtained as part of managing many leveraged, global multi-customer environments
  • Insights obtained from classified threat data and
  • General enterprise usage across multiple nation-state boundaries,

The speaker will discuss approaches and limitations around how he has implemented a global SIRCC in Australia with regional SOC locations designated to handle general events and those event with restrictions around citizenship.  He will comment on the differences in dealing with organizational units whose fundamental structure mirrors political boundaries (USA, EU, China) vs. those business units that are founded as truly global sectors where nationality and physical location of staff are a minor aspect of organization, process and day-to-day operations.  Information sharing within constraints of commercial account confidentiality clauses, organizational structure and government regulations affect every day actions designed to protect a firm’s environment and assets and use of areas such as forensics, updates to firewalls, investigative activity and drive interesting individual behavior.
